Under the leadership of Jane Grandusky, the Magnet Office at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts holds a multitude of institutional responsibilities. The primary functions of the Magnet Office are to:
Jane Grandusky, Magnet Coordinator
Jane Grandusky is a visual art educator with over thirty years of experience. She studied painting at Wesleyan College and the University of Georgia before receiving a Bachelors in Art Education from Florida Atlantic University. She has been an art instructor in the School District of Palm Beach County from 1976 to 2005. Jane was the founding dean of the Visual Arts department at the Palm Beach County School of the Arts, the predecesor of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Jane was twice named a finalist in the Dwyer Award for Excellence in Teaching, a Nationally Board Certified Teacher for Early Adolesence/Young Adulthood Art in 1999, and Florida Art Education Association's Florida Art Teacher of the Year in 2002. Mrs. Grandusky was appointed to both the State of Florida Visual Art Textbook Adoption Committee in 2001, and the State of Florida Visual Art Accomodations and Modifications for Students with Disabilities Resource Team in 2003.
Wade T. Handy, Assistant Magnet Coordinator
Wade Handy joined the Magnet Office in August 2007 after spending two years serving as an artist-in-residence in the Theatre Department. While in residence at the Dreyfoos Theatre Department, he taught Theatre History and Literature and Unified Arts as well as was the box office, public relations, and production manager for all theatre-initiated performances. Prior to Dreyfoos, Wade was the Assistant Production Manager at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. Theatrical producing credits: FSU New York Showcases, FSU Non-Subscription Series, Becoming, and the School of the Arts Foundation Gala. Stage management credits include: The Vagina Monologues (Jane Fonda/Rosie Perez), La Ronde (Jane Alexander), Proof (Theatre Southeast), and Chicago (Fred Chappell). Wade holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Florida State University School of Theatre with additional training from the U.S.I.T.T. Stage Management Mentor Project and the Paul A. Kaplan Theatre Management Program at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
