Digital Media Audition InformationThe Digital Media program has been created by blending two dynamic programs, Communication Arts and Visual Arts. Students will be offered classes in film (digital video) production, photography – traditional and digital, animation and graphic design. Students in this program will work with both the moving image and the still image to create narrative, experimental, documentary and short films of a variety of genres.
1. The applicant will edit and create a Storyboard to include 5 photographs from a group of 29 photographs and write a text to accompany each of the photographs, the applicant will have 40 minutes and the materials will be provided by the school.
2. The applicant will create a series of 5 Digital Photographs on campus using a digital camera, exploring an assigned theme related to the elements and principles of design. The applicant will have 40 minutes and the digital cameras will be provided by the school.
3. The applicant will have 40 minutes to write a short Essay describing and discussing a photograph introduced at the time of the audition.
Music - Piano Audition Information1. Applicant will perform a prepared solo chosen from standard music literature. The solo repertoire should showcase the student’s technical ability at the highest level with which the applicant is comfortable. Selection must be memorized and must be at least a grade level 4 (not a beginner level) or higher selection. The student must bring one copy of the music to be performed.
Evaluation will be based on:
- required level of selection
- technique (mechanics: hand position, wrist position, posture, fluency, fingering, use of pedal)
- memorization
- pitch accuracy
- rhythmic accuracy
- expressiveness (dynamics, phrasing, tempo, articulation, interpretation, style)
- tone quality
- musical effect (choice of music, artistry, stage presence, appearance)
2. Applicant will sight-read several measures after 30-60 seconds of visual study.
Evaluation will be based on:
- accurate performance of each measure
3. Applicant will participate in an interview.
Evaluation will be based on:
- Demonstrated motivation through description of practice habits, festival and recital participation, lessons, eagerness to learn and try new concepts, attendance at student and professional concerts.
