Overview

As an internationally recognized art school, the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts (DSOA) embraces and encourages artistic creativity and academic excellence. Our innovative school provides a uniquely challenging and nurturing environment focused on individual growth, opportunity, and diversity.

DSOA is a public magnet high school serving a culturally diverse student body of 1400 artistically talented Palm Beach County students. The school is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The administration and faculty are dedicated and supportive professionals who help students develop the skills necessary to succeed in higher education or a profession in the arts. Guest artists and industry leaders also share their expertise and creativity with students through lectures, presentations, and hands-on training.

The faculty of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts is comprised of teachers who have backgrounds in education, the professional world, and the artistic realm.  Over half of the faculty hold advanced degrees (Masters and/or Doctorates), and there are seven National Board Certified Teachers on staff.  The vast majority of the arts faculty regularly practice in their particular field of expertise in our community, leading to increased opportunities for students to participate in artistic and academic research endeavors beyond the school site.  Among the awards that Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts faculty have received are: Magnet Schools of America Southeastern Regional Principal of the Year, William T. Dwyer Award, I Make a Difference Award, Palm Beach County Hispanic Teacher of the Year, Florida State Thespians Sponsor of the Year, Florida Art Educator of the Year, Florida Association of Theatre Educators’ Administrator of the Year.  The school also has two SURDNA fellows serving as instructors.

Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts is ranked 11th within the State of Florida and 90th in U.S. News and World Reports National Rankings. Students have the opportunity to take Honors, AICE Cambridge, Advanced Placement®, and Dual Enrollment courses.
