Dance

The Dreyfoos Dance Department offers rigorous instruction for serious dance students. Training our dancers through a holistic approach, students participate in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary classes on a weekly basis.  Additionally, students may participate in Repertory, Men’s, Partnering, Pointe, and Senior Career Preparation.  We present two mandatory concerts per school year in November and April.  We also produce two audition-only concerts with our orchestra in December and our Repertory Gala in May.  Finally, our Senior Career Preparation class directs their own original choreography concert in May.

Working daily with our esteemed faculty, dancers are also exposed to a variety of internationally renowned Master Teachers and Choreographers from numerous professional dance organizations such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, The Balanchine Trust, and Marymount Manhattan College.  Throughout the course of our school year, dancers may be chosen through a professional audition process into a diverse group of guest repertory pieces and collaborations.

Our mission is to prepare our students for the demands of college and conservatory dance programs as well as pre-professional trainee programs throughout the country.  Through a focused commitment to developing future artists and leaders, we provide intense training in a nurturing environment.

Recent graduates are currently attending dance programs at institutions such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, The Julliard School, Marymount Manhattan College, Miami City Ballet, Nashville Ballet, PACE, Pennsylvania Ballet, Point Park University, USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, University of Arizona, the University of the Arts, and the University of Florida.
